What does auto insurance typically cover?

Maybe another way to ask the question, what doesn’t auto insurance cover that I might assume it would?

It depends. You have at least 2 major components to an auto policy – liability and comprehensive/collision. Liability will be your responsibility towards others. Comprehensive and collission have deductibles that apply towards your own vehicle. Again, it really depends on state requirements. Check with a local agent to determine specifics in your area.

The personal auto policy provides coverage to the named insured, spouse and other relatives living in the home as well as anyone to whom the named insured has given permission to operate the vehicle.
